You’d probably be more inclined to learn about training videos through a training video. At least, you’re more likely to retain all of this information and we could probably get more information across in a shorter period of time. That’s why they’re so darn efficient! Just train one person once, film it, then you never have to train another person again. Orientation videos, employee training videos, and corporate training videos are all effective ways to increase new employee engagement and expedite the employee orientation process.

Reasons to Make Training Videos

1. It’s efficient

There are plenty of job training methods out there that provide learning experiences for new employees – role-play, employee training and development programs, mobile learning, etc. Video-based training allows employees to quickly and effectively participate in a training session, then discuss with coworkers or superiors to address questions, concerns, etc. Effective training videos allow those coworkers and superiors focus on other things while new employees are being trained, cutting existing employee participation in half.

2. Use it anywhere, at any time

New employees that participate in video training are likely to retain important information. However, when an issue or question arises in actual practice with a client or customer, finding a page in an employee handbook can be daunting. With an archived library of searchable videos, accessible from any device, an employee has constant access to training whenever they need to refresh their memory!

3. Retaining visual content is easy!

Visualizing content while it’s being explained increases information retention. As a matter of fact, 65% of people are more likely to retain information when it’s presented visually! Mock or staged experiences, graphics, or animations can help employees remain engaged and digest the content.

4. Keep your employees on their toes!

Existing employees can also benefit from training videos. It’ll always be there when they need it. Or, check their knowledge with a quiz every once in a while. Then they can go back and get a refresh by watching existing training content.

Things to Consider When Planning your Training Video

  • How many videos will you need to address all topics and all service areas?
  • Will your videos be animated, live action, or both?
  • How can a video complement your current training processes?
  • What format will most effectively convey your training topics?
  • What music best fits the vibe of your brand?
  • Who will voice the script?
